If this Char person has all these idea's for organizing it...why hasn't any of it been done is there a reason?

In care you missed it.. this "Char person" already organized a huge contest for doujinshi artists a while ago, which worked really well... she helped flyindreams organize W.A.R. this year, but hardly anyone participated. She's working on a new project, but she's really busy in RL, and barely anyone helps her with her projects (I'm not better, I've been so busy trying to get used to my new life that I had to get away from MT or the internet as a whole)... But mostly, she concentrates on projects that will help promote doujinshi on MT.

I do tend to agree with you that MT isn't in its healthiest state right now. Yes the forum are a bit slow (or all the discussions are boring... to my taste anyways...). Groups seem to be dying. Gallery is pitiful. And more and more new members who can't bother to read the rules are appearing here.

I used to be very active in the forums, now I hardly read the thread titles because they all seem futile, or I know people will only use them to bash each other. I used to comment a lot in the galleries, but now, I barely browse; unless it's to report rips or duplicates. Like so many members, I'm starting to drift away from MT, since it really does not match up with the old MT. Maybe it's because the community is too big now, with too many people that are too lazy to read simple rules. I don't know. Right now, I come here, not to participate, but mostly to report. Because it seems to be the only fun thing to do here nowadays (which is a bit pathetic to say). I guess the fact that most of my best friends dissapeared from this place isn't helping much. Then again, the changes that overcame my life these past few months (graduating university, moving to a new province and starting to work, plus a few problems) aren't helping my participation level here either. XD

I don't really care about the family friendly policy though, I did think some of the scans submitted here were a bit too explicit for say 13-year old kids to look at, so I'm not complaining about Google's demand other than the fact that the stuff we find on it are very rarely family friendly. And I hate some of the new adds: I'm still getting a lot of sex related adds. I'm sorry, but I really am not looking for a hot chick to spend the night with... I AM a girl. It may be true though that this rule is enforced a bit too much, but since I'm not too attracted by ecchi and fanservice, it doesn't really bother me. I do understand, however, why others could find it annoying.

As for the whole new rules problem that was brought up. I really think new rules should be announced (as in in a service announcement) and written out, not in guidelines, but in the policy section before being implemented. Because I'm afraid, sometimes those guidelines aren't that easy to find. And a lot of people miss them, especially newbies who already have more than enough of a hard time actually reading the support section that's right under their noses. The thread Devilet led us to, Clarification, is an excellent example of a new "rule" that few people noticed. Even the title of the thread doesn't really make it clear what it's about. I wouldn't have read it myself if I hadn't noticed Marissa's name.

And now about those complaining there isn't enough FDQ. Personally, I like the credit system and have nothing against it. Honestly I still don't see why people keep complaining. It's not hard to understand that you can get a lot of credits just by participating. And honestly, I think we still have too many FDQ. I'm not using my credits at all, and doubt I'll ever use them in my lifetime because I have way too many.

There are probably other points I could bring up , but it's late and I have work tomorrow, so I'll stop there and go to bed lol.

f

Oh crap! >.< I knew I was forgetting something! -_- You can hit me Anjhu, really really hard... maybe that would also help me forget all my other problems (ants, dripping ceiling now, etc...) at the same time.

Well, congrats to all the winners! Good job everyone!

f

LOL, it's especially hard when the aspirant member doesn't write a message in the guestbook to tell us he or she wants to apply... Sometimes, it can take weeks before realizing that member applied just because there's no warning on his or her part and we just don't go through the member lists everyday ^_^'.

f

The "mod" in question is Sheqel, and he's no mod, he's the admin (the big apple)... And I doubt the mods can do anything about it. Now, regarding speed, personally, I find it quite fast considering... MT was once much slower than this Ha ha!... As for the rest, I don't know anything about servers and such, so I'm not commenting. Maybe this explains it : http://forum.minitokyo.net/thread/52677/minitokyo-download-speed-increased/

f

Hey, just realized this thread can be interpreted 2 ways. If you meant photography as an art, no MT really doesn't. But if you meant to upload YOUR picture (as in your own face to show the community, just to be clear), you can upload it to your userpage; the option is in the control panel in "Personal options". I guess you must have meant the first one, but still, just noticed your "upload my Photography" is confusing.

f

Nope, it doesn't. There are only sections for wallpapers, doujinshis and vectors.

f

Wrong... you don't absolutely have to submit pictures... Just participate in the forum, the gallery etc. Post! That's all you need to do. But note that the credits you gain won't appear right away, it'll take some time, but you'll have them. You can post scans now too, they give you credits instead of taking them away. *hint hint* Reporting also gives credits when the reports are useful to the mods. Trust me, you can get lots of credits in no time if you just partipate. As long as the post are pretty long (more than 50 characters) otherwise, they cost you credit.

P.S. This should be in the Minitokyo forum.

f

I can't see your wall with this link... besides, i think it's the link of the wall on Minitokyo that you have to provide... In this case : http://gallery.minitokyo.net/view/263764/

f

And this is the point when someone points you the way to this thread : http://forum.minitokyo.net/thread/45064/deletions-mature-content/

f

None of my business, but you do realize you can delete your gallery items on your own (It's in the options bar, on the left side of the screen. Under Owner options, there's a delete button.)... Besides, you don't have to start a new thread only for this, you can also use the report button, which is there to report stuff that go against MT's policy (which you should really read).

f

Don't get me started on correcting your mistakes in your post...<.< Kidding, no one is perfect, that's obvious! And writing is one of the most difficult tasks there is. Now imagine writing in a second language. As h5n1 says, not everyone comes from English-speaking countries/states... And some of those members, to respect the rules, have to put their text in their original language through babelfish to get the English version. (We all know those online translators suck and can't beat the human mind's ability to synthetize speech!) You can't expect them to spell check, when they don't even know the basics of the language.

Now, believe me, I know how annoying it is to try and decipher what those people are writing. But we have to give them credits for making an effort. There are other members who don't try at all(you'll notice a lot of posts in Spanish in the gallery, sometimes in the forum as well), this is really sad.

Well, maybe I have more experience at deciphering meaningless texts than you do. I'm a translator, and I make my living out of reading texts in English and transferring them into French (my first language by the way), and trust me, those texts, though they are written by employees of our government whose first language is English are not always well written and definitely not always comprehensible. lol. I'm no better, I also make mistakes in French every once in a while (I did say writing was difficult)... which sucks, because making communication possible and as clear as possible between people who speak different languages and have different cultures is my job ^_^'.

My advice is just bear with it. Even if it is annoying. Even if you can't make any sense out of it. Because it'll probably never get any better. Besides, the act of communicating is never perfect, even with the best grammar in the world. But the beauty of it comes when we try to understand each other, no matter how hard it is.

By the way, I think this discussion should be in the Minitokyo section of the forum. Since it seems to talk mainly about conversation quality here.

f

Give us some time to answer you, not everyone always spend their time in the entrance lounge XP Well, welcome to MT! Hope you enjoy your stay. ^^ Follow Anjhu's advices though about reading eh support section and the userguide, those tips are really useful to avoid trouble ^^

Take care and see you!

Oh, by the way

Quote by Anjhu PS nice name, sounds really french to me (actually it is as far as i'm concerned :))

Lol, Anjhu, you must be way too tired from all the things you have to do... Her name is Anenome, not "Anemone"... And I'm betting it's not French XP. Needing glasses doctor? XP

f

Hi! Welcome to MT! Impressive list of animes, I'm jealous (though I read more mangas than I watch animes though XD) I hope you enjoy your stay. ^^

Now, I'm sorry, I just noticed your signature, and I wanted to point out that your it doesn't follow the guidelines... go read this thread http://forum.minitokyo.net/thread/44487/signatures-signature-images/. The image has to be uploaded here, and yours is too large... I actually just found out about that rule, and I thought I'd share. Maybe reading the support section would also be a good idea ^^

Well, have a nice time on MT! Oyasumi XP

f

Duplicate? You're talking about scans now? Wall duplicates usually only come after a glitch, and they usually follow the other wall, so they're not all that hard to spot in the gallery. And I'm sorry to tell you, but doujins also get deleted for poor quality (one of mine got deleted because it was on lined paper and the pencil was smudged, and it was one of my older ones too...)... Also because a lot of people submit their friend's doujins, or unfinished doodles... It's pretty much the same, but doujins are less dominant (in number and importance) in the gallery, so we don't notice what happens to them all that much.

And I still think the current system is probably the best for this community. With the number of submissions per day it would be crazy to expect mods to do this kind of work. Sure, some unfit walls pass through, but, considering how many active members we are here, it's very likely someone browsing the gallery will notice it and report.

f

While it's not a bad idea, I think it would only give even more work to do for the moderators, who already have plenty to do moderating the galleries, the forum, reviews, signatures, sometimes guestbooks... etc... And it would probably end up taking a lot of time to get the art works accepted in the gallery (by the way, don't forget doujinshis) and get some impatient people (like myself ^_^') very frustrated about the wait time. And as kayurachan said, it is likely there probably would still be mistakes. At least, the way it works now, with people submitting in the gallery right away, regular members can still help by reporting.

f

The answer to that is already in the thread I linked you to... they don't want us to know how many credits we get for what... :

Quote by Keltosh First things first, keep in mind that we will not tell you exactly how to gain credits, at least for now. This is to avoid abuse of the credit system. Gaining and spending credits is a slow process. You will NOT see immediate changes to your credit balance. This is due to these reasons:
- Caching of the numbers.
- We don't want members to find out the exact formula for gaining credits. This is to avoid abuse of the credit system.
As such, your credits balance will change slowly, over time.

f

Actually, just a correction, now you earn credits for submitting scans, you don't have to pay them anymore, this is now so because they wanted more people to upload scans I think... but be careful of submitting quality scans, and not duplicates. Hint, you also get credits for reporting things (like duplicates, rips, low quality, etc...), if the mods find your reports useful XP. But essentially, it's as Elves says, participate and you'll be fine...

This thread pretty much answers the question : http://forum.minitokyo.net/thread/38203/userguide-minitoyko-3-credits-browsing-groups-more/

f

I guess you can also clear it out in your description... explain why you chose not to put any shadows, because it's clear not all doujins have to have shadows. However, it has to show in your doujin that you spent time working on it, that it was well planned etc... And there are other reasons for deletion: I've had a doujin deleted not because of the lack of work I had put in it, but because the paper I drew it on was lined, and that the pencil got smothered up all over because of my hands... So as you can see, it depends...

f

It's in the last episode of the series, the very last scene... we see all of them at the end in a world quite similar to ours, except for Blue... And I guess your explanation is the most logical one, notice, it's been a long time since I watched it too, so I might be forgetting some other details that could have helped explain...

f

She doesn't need to show anything, it's her actions too, remember, we're not allowed to submit a scan in which the subject seems to be undressing... Oh well, I'm no expert anyways... And in the deletion complaints forum, you can also argue restrictions, muting or bans... so I'm thinking signatures can go there as well...

f

I also think that's the reason... And about the thread, maybe you should have put it in the deletion complaints forum, since you're asking why it was deleted XP...

f

Took you long enough <.<... Kidding, glad to see you're finally back, and you're welcome ^^

f

^ another one who didn't understand the subject... we're talking about sick people... those who have degenerative diseases that force them to rely on someone else 24/7, those who can't survive without a respirator, those who are in a vegetative state, etc. To kill them to stop their pain. It's not a war situation, and those people are not your enemies.

I probably would feel really really bad if someone closed to me asked for it. However, if it comes to the point when you don't have a good quality of life anymore and that you have to rely on someone all the time only to do the simplest things like eat, go to the bathroom, etc... Without counting the hospital and health care bill that goes with it. Then I think I understand that they would not want to keep on living that way. Personally, I wouldn't either. I'm too proud a person for that.

I'd rather live with the pain of accepting a friend or family member's decision than see him or her live in pain (or live without living if they're vegetative) for the rest of their life.

So, I think it should be legalized. It would prevent those people from trying to commit suicide in much more painful ways, or get someone else to do it for them. Of course, there would have to be very high restrictions so that no one takes advantage of it. Including for those who are in a vegetative state.

f

Yay! Congrats to the winners!

And Anjhu, just to point out:

Quote by Anjhurindominated by two lovely ladies (which are

... WHICH?!... these ladies may be underraged, they aren't objects either XP.... Ok, shameless tease after a really busy day at work (visiting the surroundings (my feet hurt), meeting people whose names I'm not about to remember (bad memory), getting acquainted with my office etc.) >.< I'm exhausted, and I didn't even "work", so to speak.

Well, congrats again! And 18 voters, not so bad... considering the number of people that actually participate in the group... ^_^'
